Ladies Philoptochos Society
The Ladies Philoptochos Society is the duly accredited philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Our chapter supports local, regional, and national charitable organizations in fulfillment of its mission to “help the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, those with disabilities, and the victims of disasters." Membership is open to women eighteen years and older.

The Parish Council is composed of faithful men and women who are dedicated Orthodox Christians and who sacrifice their time, talents, and resources for the Church. We represent the parish, as clergy and laity together, and seek to fulfill the mission ascribed to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Liturgical Ministry

Outreach Ministry

Lowell Transitional Living Center (LTLC):
The Transfiguration parish family hosts dinner at the Lowell Transitional Living Center (LTLC) on the second Saturday of each month. The opportunity to serve dinner is open to all parishioners. Gather a group of 4 or 5 and sign up for your month on the poster in the lower lobby.

A Neighborhood Thanksgiving:
The church provides and volunteers deliver groceries for a Thanksgiving dinner to neighbors in Hancock Village.

Rise Against Hunger:
An international hunger relief program that we as a church fund and volunteers package meals for people around the world.

International Christian Charities (IOCC):
An international agency offering emergency relief and development. The Sunday School has adopted this outreach project.

Prayer Shawl:
A dedicated group of crocheters and knitters who handcraft shawls for those who are sick or in need, as well as making winter items for the needy.

Family and Youth Ministry

Family Fun Night:
Family Fun Nights are held on selected Friday nights during the year. All families are welcome to attend an evening of fellowship, fun and activities with Hope/Joy children in mind.

Parish Family Retreat:
In September, an intergenerational Parish Retreat is held at St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center.

Vacation Church Camp:
VCC is scheduled during a week in July. Youth grades PreK to grade 8 are welcome. On Friday campers and their family are invited to participate in a field trip to the St. Methodios Faith Heritage Center.

Lenten Retreat:
Lenten Retreat is scheduled on one of the Saturday of Souls, as we prepare the children to enter Great and Holy Lent. Campers grade PreK to grade 6 are invited to attend.

Evangelism
“Go forth and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” Its mission is making Orthodoxy known and understood in our broader Lowell community.
Open Doors Lowell:
Open Doors Lowell is scheduled in May through the Lowell Historic Park Service. The church is placed on a visitation schedule and is open to the public.

Inquirer’s Class:
A six week seminar offered twice per year to educate participants on the basic tenets of the Orthodox Christian Faith.

Grecian Festival:
Our parish’s largest event, held the weekend following Memorial Day, that both serves to promote and share our Orthodox faith and Greek culture. There are many opportunities to assist in the preparation of the festival as well as the weekend thereof.
